At the dental office of Dr. Robert Eversole, we want to make sure your oral health is a top priority, and that is why we are here to serve your dental needs in Greensburg Indiana! So, in between your regular dental cleanings, we encourage you to brush and floss your teeth daily, and consider cleaning your tongue as part of your daily oral hygiene routine.

Since the tongue is a place where most oral bacterial acids like to reside, ignoring this area of your oral routine can lead to bad breath along with having a bad taste in your mouth, not to mention affecting your taste buds and leaving a fuzzy coating on your tongue.

Some patients clean the tongue by using the tool already at hand–the toothbrush, brushing from the back where most of the bacteria resides to the front of the tongue. Others have used a metal spoon turned upside down and moistened, which works as well. However, you can find a tongue scraper in the dental aisle near your other dental supplies, and which is designed to clean the tongue effectively and efficiently. Specifically, it is designed not to set off the gag reflex. Whatever tool you use, be sure to rinse it well with water after use, and disinfect it with an antibacterial mouthwash afterwards.
